West Virginia State University is the longest continuously accredited institution of higher learning in the state of West Virginia.

WVSU is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (HLC). The HLC is an independent corporation founded in 1895 as one of six regional institutional accreditors in the United States. It accredits degree-granting, post-secondary educational institutions in the North Central region, which includes 19 states. In November 2015, the HLC granted WVSU’s 10-year reaffirmation of accreditation, the maximum length of time granted by the educational accrediting body.

WVSU is also accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP). The ACBSP is a leading accreditation association for business education. It accredits business, accounting and other business-related programs at the associate, baccalaureate, master and doctorate level worldwide. WVSU’s online Bachelor of Science in Business Administration – Accounting and online Bachelor of Science in Business Administration – Management degrees are accredited by ACBSP.
